Best Practices for Renewing Your Domain

When your domain expires on Hosted.com, it goes into a 30-day grace period during which you can still renew it.  But if you don’t renew it during those 30 days, you will have to pay a hefty redemption penalty fee that is higher than your renewal fee, or you will lose ownership of the domain and another business can buy it.

Follow these three tips for peace of mind and to ensure your domain name is renewed on time:

  • Keep your contact information updated: It is essential to regularly check and update this information, especially if any of your contact details have changed. Update constantly to ensure you receive important renewal notifications and other relevant information concerning your domain ownership.
  • Enable automatic renewal: Hosted.com offers the option of auto-renewal to domain owners, which renews your domain automatically before it expires. This is a convenient and effective way to ensure you don’t accidentally lose domain ownership by forgetting to renew it.
  • Create expiration reminders: In addition to enabling auto-renewal, you can also set up domain expiration reminders. These reminders can be in the form of emails, text messages, or alarms, and will notify you before your domain is about to expire.

Hosted.com has a team of helpful sales and support staff to assist you on this journey. Don’t be afraid to ask them questions if anything doesn’t make sense or you’re unsure how to proceed. Submit a ticket for support.
