LeapFTP Features
File Transfers
Like all FTP clients, you can upload files from your computer to the remote server by dragging and dropping them from the local panel to the remote server panel. LeapFTP also allows you to highlight multiple files and upload them in a batch.
To download files from the server to your computer, simply do the opposite. Drag and drop the files from the remote server panel to your desired location on your computer.
Editing Files
Some LeapFTP configurations might allow basic in-line editing of text files. This means you can right-click on a text file, select “Edit,” and modify the content directly within Leap FTP.
However, this using this feature depends on your server setup and LeapFTP configuration. If you are unsure, it’s always best to check with our Support Team to see if this feature is supported.
File Searching
LeapFTP offers basic search functionality to locate specific files on the server using the search bar in the remote server panel. Entering the filename or part of the filename will usually filter the view to show matching files.
Change Permissions
The steps provided previously give a basic overview of changing file permissions. However, understanding file permissions is more advanced and requires some technical knowledge.
Read: This permission allows users to view the contents of a file.
Write: This permission allows users to modify the contents of a file.
Execute: This permission allows users to run a file if it’s an executable program.
These permissions can be set for different user groups such as owner, group, and others on the server. Keep in mind, that changing permissions incorrectly can affect how your website functions, so it’s recommended to only modify them if you understand how file permissions function.
Leap FTP allows you to bookmark frequently accessed folders on the server for quicker navigation. You are also able to configure transfer queues to upload or download multiple files automatically, set transfer speeds, and limit bandwidth usage during transfers.
