WordPress automatically creates Permalinks that include the date and time, you can customize these to suit your own-style. Please bear in mind that you cannot have duplicate URLS or Permalinks.

Each Permalink must have a unique slug – this is a term from news media that is a short term used within an agency to identify an article – the part of a URL that appears after the last “/”.

To change your Permalinks, first ensure that “Hosting Configuration” has been activated under “Settings”, if you cannot see the Activate button then it has already been activated.

On your WordPress dashboard:

  • Go to “Settings” and select “Permalink”
  • Select one of the available structures and the clock “Save Changes”

The available structures are self-explanatory;

  • Plain
  • Day and name
  • Month and name
  • Numeric
  • Post Name
  • Custom structure
