At Hosted.com®, we make it easy for clients to install SSL certificates on their hosting accounts. Installing an SSL ensures that your website traffic is encrypted, providing security for both your users and your business. The installation process differs slightly depending on whether you use cPanel, Hosted.com®’s WebHost Manager (WHM), or another hosting platform.

Proper installation ensures that your website is fully encrypted, builds customer trust, and prevents browser warnings that could affect conversions.

How to Install an SSL Certificate in WHM (Hosted.com®):

You can purchase an SSL certificate directly from Hosted.com® or claim a free one included with certain Web Hosting or WordPress Hosting plans. If your Hosted.com® hosting plan includes a free SSL certificate, it will be automatically installed.

To purchase an additional SSL Certificate from Hosted.com®, the quickest and easiest solution is to contact our Support Team, and they will send a link for your web server. Alternatively, you can also request us to generate your CSR or follow these steps:

  1. Create a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) from your web server. This file includes details about your domain and organization, as well as your private and public keys.
  2. Provide the CSR to the Certificate Authority (CA) you’re using. Complete the required Domain Control Validation (DCV). Once verified, the CA will issue your SSL certificate files.
  3. In most cases, Hosted.com® will automatically handle the installation of certificates purchased through us. If you’re using a third-party certificate, you can upload the files manually in cPanel’s SSL/TLS Manager.
  4. Ensure your server settings are updated to point to the new SSL certificate. This may involve updating virtual hosts and security configurations.
  5. Test your SSL certificate using tools like SSL Labs’ SSL Test or your browser to confirm it’s installed correctly.
  6. Update your site’s settings and internal links to load all resources over HTTPS. This ensures a secure browsing experience for your visitors.
