This guide explains how to import a existing website from cPanel into Website Builder, whether you are starting from scratch or replacing an existing project.
Our Website Builder makes it easy to create and customize websites without technical expertise. One of its most powerful features is the ability to import an existing website, allowing you to quickly recreate and enhance your current site within a modern, user-friendly environment.
Disclaimer: Please note that not all websites are fully compatible with Website Builder’s import functionality. In some cases, certain layouts, features, or content may not be imported correctly due to differences in platforms, themes, or third-party integrations. For this reason, we recommend approaching the import process as a starting point rather than an exact replication and being prepared to make manual adjustments after the import is complete.
How to Access Website Builder
1. Login to your Hosted.com® Client Portal.
2. Click Manage Services.
3. Select your Website Builder plan.
4. Click Launch Website Builder to open the editor.
Alternatively:
- Access your Web Hosting service, click Manage, then select Website Builder from Quick Actions.
IMPORTANT:
Ensure pop-ups are enabled in your browser for Website Builder to load correctly.
How to Import a Website into a Blank Project
1. Go to My Websites.
2. Connect or select your domain.
3. Click Edit Website.
4. Choose Import Any Website from the template options.
5. Enter the URL of the website you wish to import.
6. Click Import to start the process.
How to Import Over an Existing Website
1. Open your existing project in Website Builder.
2. Click Edit Website.
3. Locate the New/Reset menu at the top of the editor.
4. Select Import Website.
5. Enter the website URL.
6. Confirm by clicking Yes, import website.
IMPORTANT:
This action will overwrite all existing content.
Additional Information
- The import feature is designed to save time by using your existing website as a foundation. Imported sites may not appear precisely the same as the original due to differences in themes, plugins, scripts, and external integrations.
- There is also a limit to how much content can be imported at once, and complex layouts may require manual adjustments after the import is complete.
- For best results, always review every page carefully before publishing.
- After importing, you can fully customize your website by editing text, updating images, adjusting layouts, and applying your brand identity.
- This makes Website Builder an excellent tool for refreshing outdated websites or migrating to a more modern platform without having to start from scratch.
Login to Hosted.com® Account
1. Go to the Hosted.com® website Account Login page.
2. Enter your Email and Password and click the Sign In button.
3. You will see the Hosted.com® Dashboard, displaying the Manage Account menu on the left and your Account Information, Account Overview and Open Support Tickets on the right.
Login to cPanel from your Hosted.com® Dashboard
4. Click on Manage Services to view the sub-dropdown menu and select the hosting package for the domain you want to work with – in our example we are using WordPress Hosting.
5. Click the Manage button to the right of the domain name you want to access.
6. The display will now show Product Information, Quick Manage, Resource Usage and Site Statistics for that domain name.
7. Under Product Information, scroll down to Control Panel, which will display cPanel to the right, and click on the Login button.
8. The cPanel Dashboard will now be display
