This blog will show you how to block IP address in your cPanel. Blocking specific IP addresses from accessing your website is an effective way to protect your site from suspicious activity, spam, or brute-force login attempts. With cPanel’s IP Blocker tool, you can quickly restrict access from known malicious IPs or certain geographical locations.

Additional Information
Why block IP Addresses
This prevents unwanted visitors, bots, hackers, or abusive crawlers from reaching your website.
- Common uses:
- Blocking IPs that repeatedly fail login attempts.Preventing comment spam or fake registrations.
- Stopping traffic from unwanted regions or competitors.
- For extra security, WordPress users can combine cPanel blocking with plugins like Wordfence or All In One WP Security for more robust protection.
Finding & Reversing Blocked IP Addresses
- Finding IPs: Use IP lookup tools such as whatismyipaddress.com, or check your server logs in Awstats or Raw Access within cPanel.
- No wildcard support: IP Blocker requires exact IP addresses; wildcards (*) are not accepted.
- Reversing blocks: To unblock, click Delete next to the IP in the blocked list.
- Editing caution: If blocking IPs manually via .htaccess, back up the file first to avoid errors.
- Be cautious with ranges: Blocking large IP ranges could unintentionally block legitimate users or search engine crawlers.
- Not a firewall: IP Blocker limits website access only, not server-wide. For complete protection, use a firewall or security plugin.
