In this tutorial, you will learn how to install Magento from Softaculous using the cPanel dashboard available to users on one of Hosted.com’s cPanel Web Hosting plans.

Magento is an open-source e-commerce platform that gives online retailers complete control over the appearance, content, and functions of their online stores. This tutorial assumes you have cPanel and are logged in.

1. Magento is a shopping cart software, so scroll down until you find the “E-Commerce” dropdown menu and select “Magento” from the list.

For Quick Install

2. Click “Quick Install” from the “Install” tab. The next two boxes require your selected Domain and the Directory. The Directory is relative to your Domain and should not exist. e.g. To install at http://mydomain/dir/, type “dir”. To install only in http://mydomain/, leave this empty.

3. If necessary, set your Admin Path under “Site Settings”, and fill in your Admin Account details. Then finalize the process by clicking “Install” at the bottom of the page.

For Custom Install

2. The Custom Install process is similar: Select the option from the “Install” tab. Under “Software Setup” choose your Protocol, Domain, and Directory, which should be empty. If you have multiple Domains on one account, you can select where you wish to install.

Note: The Directory is relative to your Domain and should not exist. e.g. To install at http://mydomain/dir/, type “dir”. To install only in http://mydomain/, leave this empty.

3. Next, choose the version you want to install and add a Cron Time if necessary.

Note: A CronJob creates and schedules tasks on a repeated schedule. It is designed to carry out routine tasks like creating reports, backing up data, and more. If you don’t understand how to use it or don’t need it, leave the spaces provided blank.

4. After clicking “Install” in both processes, the software will be installed. View your new site by clicking the “Installation” link.
