Additional Information
Syncing with Microsoft Exchange
When using Office 365 or Microsoft Exchange for your work or school account, the calendar, contacts, and email folders are automatically synced, which can help you keep organized.
POP vs IMAP
“POP” and “IMAP” are the options for creating non-Exchange accounts. Most people prefer “IMAP” over “POP” because it syncs emails across numerous devices instead of downloading them to just one device.
Two-Factor Authentication
During setup, you may need to create an app-specific password if your email provider employs two-factor authentication (2FA). Ensure you activate this function by following the directions given by the email provider.
Customizing Sync Settings
For best results, you can modify folder settings, email organization, and sync frequency under Account Settings after setup.
Security Protocols (SSL/TLS)
When setting up your email, enabling SSL/TLS encryption helps ensure your emails are securely transmitted. This is particularly important when connecting to public networks.
Email Signature Setup
After you have set up your email account, customize your email signature under Account Settings. This ensures your outgoing emails look professional and provide your name, title, and contact information.
Troubleshooting Tips
If you experience issues with setup, ensure:
- You have the correct server settings for your email provider.
- Your password is entered correctly, especially if using two-factor authentication.
