Website Titles vs. Taglines
Website Titles and Taglines play different roles in serving the purpose of representing a website’s identity.
The website Title is the website’s name; it gives users and search engines an initial representation of what the site is about. Ideally, your website’s Title should include your chosen domain name if possible.
A Tagline is a short, memorable line of text that succinctly provides more context about your website’s purpose and/or content. Taglines typically comprise 8 – 12 words and are strategically placed on a website near the Title to reinforce the site’s main message.
The Importance of Your WordPress Website’s Title
Your website’s Title is the first thing potential customers see and what they associate with your business. Your WordPress site Title should inform visitors and search engines what your website is called and what they can expect to find on it. A well-optimized and engaging Title can help attract more users.
Visitors may have landed on your page using a link from another site, social media post, or ad. Ensuring your WordPress Title is relevant to your site’s content shows users they are in the right place.
When it comes to search engines themselves, these display your WordPress site Title as the first thing users see on results pages when searching the web. Your Title may also affect your page’s SEO (Search Engine Optimization) ranking. Search engines use your site’s Title to analyze its content. If your Title doesn’t represent it accurately, your ranking may drop. This can result in lower traffic and a decrease in conversions.
