cPanel’s User Manager allows you to create cPanel user account and define exactly what each user can access. This ensures that users only receive permissions relevant to their role, which helps protect sensitive data and maintain system integrity.

When managing a website or hosting environment, it is often necessary to provide access to multiple users, such as developers, designers, or administrators. However, sharing your primary login credentials is not recommended because of security risks.

Hosted.com® provides this functionality as part of its hosting environment, making it easy to manage user access securely and efficiently.

Define Access Levels

Once the user is created, you can assign access permissions:

  • Enable FTP access for file management.
  • Enable Web Disk access for file sharing via WebDAV.

Additional Information

  • Granular Access Control: You can customize permissions for each user, ensuring they receive access only to the tools and resources necessary for their role.
  • Improved Security: By avoiding shared credentials, you reduce the risk of unauthorized access and make it easier to manage security incidents.
  • User Lifecycle Management: Accounts can be updated, suspended, or removed at any time, giving you full control over who has access to your hosting environment.
  • Best Practices: Always assign the minimum required permissions and regularly review user accounts to ensure they remain appropriate.
  • Monitoring & Accountability: Individual accounts make it easier to track activity and maintain accountability within your team.
