In this tutorial, you will learn how to install Drupal from Softaculous using the cPanel dashboard, available to users on one of Hosted.com’s cPanel Web Hosting plans.

This tutorial assumes you have logged in to cPanel and have selected the Softaculous icon.

1. Drupal is a content management system, so scroll down to the CMS group in the menu on the left. Click “Drupal”.

For Quick Install

2. Click “Quick Install” from the Install tab. The next two boxes require your selected Domain and the Directory. The Directory is relative to your Domain and should not exist. e.g. To install at http://mydomain/dir/, type “dir”. To install only in http://mydomain/, leave this empty.

3. Next, choose the version you want to install and fill in your Admin Account details. Finalize the process by clicking “Install” at the bottom of the page.

For Custom Install

2. The “Custom Install” process is similar: Select the option from the “Install” tab. Under “Software Setup”, choose your Protocol, Domain, and Directory, which should be empty. If you have multiple Domains on one account, you can select where to install.

Note: The Directory is relative to your Domain and should not exist. e.g. To install at http://mydomain/dir/, type “dir”. To install only in http://mydomain/, leave this empty.

3. Next choose the version you want to install and add a Cron Time if necessary.

Note: A CronJob creates and schedules tasks on a repeated schedule. It is designed to carry out routine tasks like creating reports, backing up data, and more. If you aren’t sure how to use it or don’t need it, you can leave the spaces provided blank.

3. Under “Site Settings”, fill in your Site Name, which may be set to default. You can change this later in the application’s Admin Panel.

4. Finally, select your language and fill in your Admin Account details. Then click “Install” to finalize the process.

Note: Under Advanced Options, you can choose a new Database Name for a Database to be created for the installation, and enter a Table Prefix, if necessary.

5. After clicking “Install” in both processes, the software will be installed, and you can view your new site by clicking the Installation link.
