5. Locate the SSL certificate you wish to cancel.

6. Click Uninstall or Cancel and confirm the cancellation.

After cancellation, the SSL certificate is removed from your website, and your site will revert to HTTP unless a different certificate is installed.

Will You Get a Refund?

Refund eligibility depends on the type of SSL certificate and your purchase terms:

  • Free SSL Certificates (Let’s Encrypt / AutoSSL): No payment was made, so there is no refund.
  • Paid SSL Certificates: Refunds may be available if the certificate has not been issued or activated.
  • Issued Certificates: Once a certificate is issued and installed, Hosted.com® typically cannot provide a refund due to CA policies.

Always review your SSL purchase agreement or contact Hosted.com® support to confirm refund eligibility before cancelling.

Additional Information

  • Website Security Impact: Cancelling an SSL certificate removes HTTPS encryption. Visitors will see “Not Secure” warnings, so it’s recommended to replace the certificate immediately if your site requires secure connections.
  • Downtime: Removing an SSL certificate does not cause server downtime, but unsecured HTTP traffic may be vulnerable.
  • Domain Validation: If you cancel a certificate and later purchase a new one, you may need to complete Domain Control Validation (DCV) again.
  • Wildcard & Multi-Domain SSLs: Cancelling one certificate may affect all covered domains and subdomains. Verify which domains are impacted before cancelling.
  • Support Assistance: Hosted.com® support can guide you through cancellation, advise on refund eligibility, and help you install a replacement SSL if needed.
  • Security Tip: Cancel SSL certificates only when you are certain the domain does not require HTTPS, as unencrypted traffic can compromise data security.
